The Caledonia Harley Club
is an independent club of like-minded men and women who
want to ride Harleys and PARTY – not necessarily
in that order.
The
club has about 90 members and associates, from throughout
Scotland and beyond, even including a few kilt-wearing Sassenachs!
Our aim is to provide a focal point for H.D. riders in Scotland,
ride to rallies and events at home and abroad and keep our
members and friends informed about Club Events.
We are members of F.H.D.C.E (Federation of Harley Davidson
Clubs Europe), MAG U.K. (Motorcycle Action Group) and N.A.B.D.
(National Association of Bikers with a Disability).
We
have an active Committee, club magazine “The Fiery
Cross”, and e-mail address (see below). Each year
we host one international rally ‘The Wallace’;
a members and friends rally ‘The Galloway Gathering’;
a Christmas Ceilidh; an A.G.M. and various other events.
A
warm highland welcome awaits all our visitors.
If
you are interested in joining, e-mail us at CALEDONIAHC@hotmail.com.
Alternatively you may prefer to telephone me on 01786 822448,
or our secretary Hazel on 01241 855052.
Slainte
mhath,
Brian Young (President of Caledonia Harley Club).

The
Caledonia Harley Club started life as a
chapter of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.). Shortly after
the first Wallace Rally in 1992, however, the vast majority
of the membership left Caledonia H.O.G., which was still
quite young, and our own club was formed in 1993. Roddy
Smith, a.k.a. “Gruff” (R.I.P.), who led the
breakaway, had been the Director of Caledonia H.O.G. He
then became the first President of Caledonia Harley Club,
a position he held for seven years until his death on his
bike “Mo reasan a bhith”. Roddy led the club
into the Federation of Harley Davidson Clubs Europe and
put Caledonia firmly on the map as the Party Animals Club
in Scotland.
Davy
Meiklejohn, his able deputy, took over the Presidency and,
among other achievements, extended the club’s hand
of friendship throughout Europe by organising the Federation’s
Presidents Meeting in Edinburgh in 2001. He also presided
over the 8th, 9th and 10th Wallace Rallies. Well done Davy!
Davy
volunteered me for the job at the end of his reign, and
here I still am, more than twelve months later. Despite
not having been on the committee before, the membership
has stayed solid; we’re still in business and have
just had our best A.G.M. party in years.

Claes
"Club stuff" is going well. If you want to order anything
put it on the form
and post it to the club address. This makes my life a
lot easier than turning up with money when I'm pissed,
and spending the next few weeks working out where the
money came from. Neil.
